Vol. 240 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Health Committees.

44.

asked the Minister for Health how the present county health committees should be constituted; their terms of reference; their powers; and if there are statutory rules regarding when they should meet.

I presume the Deputy is referring to the existing consultative health committees.

The constitution, terms of reference and powers of these committees and provision for the holding of meetings is set out

(a) as respects Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Waterford in Statutory Instrument No. 241 of 1963 which is entitled Consultative Health Committees (Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Waterford) Regulations, 1963, and

(b) for the rest of the country in section 48 of the Health Act, 1953.

Section 48 is still operative but has been amended by section 24 of the Health Authorities Act, 1960.
