Vol. 240 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

13.

asked the Minister for Local Government the cause of the defective water supply to houses on the Crumlin Road, Dublin.

There is no information in my Department concerning this matter. The initiation of measures to remedy any defect would be a matter for the sanitary authority.

14.

Mr. P. Hogan

(South Tipperary) and Mr. T. Dunne asked the Minister for Local Government the present position of the proposed Rossmore-Clonoulty group water scheme, County Tipperary; and when it is likely that work will begin on this scheme.

The group have written to the South Tipperary County Council in regard to a supply of water for this scheme. It is not possible at this stage to indicate when work on the scheme will commence.

15.

asked the Minister for Local Government what is the present position in relation to the group water scheme at Ballinkill East and West Newtown, Charleville, County Cork.

This scheme has been approved by Cork County Council, and quotations are now being sought for the work and materials involved.

16.

asked the Minister for Local Government when he expects to approve the group water scheme application for the 100 residents in the Kilmactranny area, County Sligo; and if he will make the necessary additional grants available.

The technical and financial problems involved in this scheme are currently being examined. An indication as to when the scheme may be approved and the financial assistance to be afforded to it cannot be given at this stage.

17.

asked the Minister for Local Government when he expects to approve the water supply scheme for the districts of Ballinafad, Castlebaldwin and Ballyrush, County Sligo; and the cause of the long delay in installing these much-needed supplies.

No proposal by the county council in regard to this scheme is awaiting my approval. However, on the latest information available to me, I understand that the scheme is not regarded by the council as having a high priority in their water and sewerage programme.

18.

asked the Minister for Local Government if there is a definite proposal to extend piped water supply to Killea, County Donegal.

I have approved Donegal County Council's proposals for a water supply for Killea.

19.

asked the Minister for Local Government if the plans for the provision of sewerage to the South Shore, Rush, County Dublin have yet been finalised.

As I indicated in reply to Question No. 39 of the 4th March, 1969, by the Deputy, I have approved the preliminary report for this scheme and I have asked the local authority to finalise its planning as a matter of urgency. The council's further proposals are awaited.

20.

asked the Minister for Local Government when he proposes to approve the application for a sewerage extension for Keeneghan in Ballymote, County Sligo.

On the latest information available to me this scheme is not regarded by Sligo County Council as having a high priority in their water and sewerage programme. In the circumstances I cannot indicate when the project will be approved.
