Vol. 240 No. 8

Electricity (Special Provisions) (Repeal) Bill, 1969: First Stage.

I move that leave be granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to repeal the Electricity (Special Provisions) Act, 1966.

Next Tuesday.

Why not now?

Does the Deputy want to have it today?

I understood from a Labour spokesman last night that there is some opposition to doing this quickly. That is only hearsay.

Is the Minister accusing me of disclosing a confidence?

In a public address last night Deputy Michael O'Leary said I was trying to rush this and the Labour Party were not feeling altogether co-operative about it. I was not present to hear what he said.

Actually, when Fianna Fáil were trying to rush this through, we were not co-operative either, if the Minister remembers.

I am just wondering what the Deputy wants.

We want it removed off the Statute Book as quickly as the Minister can do it. We will take it all now.

All Stages?

It has already been ordered for next Tuesday.

It has been suggested that all Stages of the Bill be taken now.

Discharge the earlier order.
