My Department is at present in correspondence with the County Sligo Vocational Education Committee in regard to the accommodation to be provided in the proposed new vocational school at Tubbercurry. At this preliminary stage it is not possible to state when the building of the school will commence.
As regards this new vocational school the real difficulty is to provide proper trained personnel to teach.
There is no problem in regard to personnel. Everything is agreed and sanctioned and the only problem is in regard to the layout of the accommodation in the school premises. It is fully accepted that Tubbercurry is a booming industrial centre in the heart of the west of Ireland and that we must provide vocational facilities there appropriate to the industrialisation of the area.
