104.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state in respect of each local authority for which he is the appropriate Minister the number of posts of (a) clerical officer, (b) clerk typist, (c) dental attendant, (d) receptionist, which became vacant in each of the five years ending 31st March, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, with the reasons for the vacancies identified under one or other of the following headings (i) newly created offices, (ii) transfer of officer from the service of one local authority to another, (iii) promotion to a higher office within the local service, (iv) resignation of officer to take up outside employment, (v) marriage or religious vocation, (vi) death or retirement on age limit, or permanent incapacity, distinguishing as follows (a) officers with less than two years service, (b) officers with two to five years service, (c) officers with five years service or longer and to state also in respect of the total number of vacancies in each of the two grades unfilled at the start of each year, and arising during the year the number of persons (i) to whom the vacancies were offered, (ii) who accepted the offers and took up office, (iii) who refused the offers and (iv) who had not replied at the end of the year.

The information sought by the Deputy is not available in my Department.

Local health authorities may fill vacancies in authorised posts in the grades mentioned without reference to me.

The information requested by the Deputy is not available in my Department. Local authorities are free to fill vacancies arising in the grades mentioned without having to notify me or seek my approval.
