Although the review of the structure of local government to which I referred in my reply to previous questions on this subject has reached an advanced stage, some further time will be required to complete it. Accordingly, the stage has not yet been reached when decisions could be taken as to the changes, if any, which should be proposed. I have already announced that when the review is completed, I intend to publish a White Paper setting out the Government's views and proposals. Interested parties will then have an opportunity of presenting their views before final decisions are taken.
May we anticipate, in view of the fact that on this occasion he has not stated categorically his intentions in relation to these three local authorities, that the Minister may give some advance notice to the House about the global review in so far as it affects these three authorities?
Neither have I indicated my intention in relation to other local authorities.
