Vol. 241 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Social Welfare Income Limits.

32.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will consider the present income limits, so that workers with incomes of over £1,200 will be eligible for social welfare benefit.

33.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state, with reference to a reply of 15th July, 1969, if he has as yet reached any decision as to when and by what amount he is prepared to raise the current £1,200 income limit for social insurance.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 32 and 33 together.

Examination of the question of raising the remuneration limit for insurance purposes applicable in the case of nonmanual workers has not yet been completed. It is hoped, however, that a decision in the matter will not be unduly delayed.
