Vol. 242 No. 6

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers (Resumed). - Potez Industries.

73.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the present position in relation to Potez Industries of Ireland Limited, Galway; if he is aware of any proposal of this company, either in its present form or under another name, to go into business again; and whether the question of State assistance arises.

No doubt the Deputy will be aware from newspaper reports that the debenture in favour of the Ulster Bank Ltd. on the assets of Potez Industries of Ireland Ltd., has been transferred. The original receiver appointed by the bank has now been discharged, and the company has appointed another receiver who will be responsible for the assets until such time as it is possible to discharge the creditors in respect of goods and services supplied before April, 1968. I understand that the company has plans to recommence trading in the field of light-engineering subcontracting, but there is no question of grant assistance being made available for the new operation.
