I assume the Deputy is referring to the extension of the British import deposit scheme for a further twelve months.
Whilst any measures of this nature are to be deplored as a disturbance to trade, the steps taken by the Government and the banks to offset the adverse effects of the scheme have been largely successful and will, I hope, continue to be so.
Will the Minister not agree that this is costing the country a considerable amount of money? In fact, it is costing a few million pounds.
As I said, this is to be deplored.
