Vol. 242 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Refuse Disposal.

31.

asked the Minister for Local Government if Dublin Corporation have considered the possibility of disposing of the city's refuse by means of incineration; and, if so, if he will state the capital cost of providing incinerators.

I understand that Dublin Corporation estimated a few years ago that the disposal of refuse by incineration would entail a capital cost in excess of £2 million and that each ton of refuse dealt with would entail a further increase of from 15/-to 20/- per ton as against the then cost of 3/7 per ton for disposal by the normal method of controlled tipping.
