Vol. 242 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Health Bill.

9.

asked the Minister for Health if any estimate has been made as to the cost in the pound to (a) Dublin city ratepayers and (b) ratepayers generally of implementing the provisions of the current Health Bill; and, if so, if he will give details.

In accordance with the undertaking given in the Government's White Paper on the Health Services and their Further Development, the cost of the new services and extensions of existing services proposed in the Health Bill, 1969, will not be met in any proportion by the local rates. Such additional demands on the local rates for the health services as may arise in the future will thus relate to increases in the costs of existing services which would arise irrespective of the Health Bill.
