Vol. 242 No. 9

Ceisteann—Questions. Oral Answers. - Double Taxation Relief.

36.

asked the Minister for Finance if there is any arrangement for double taxation relief relating to taxes on income, between Ireland and India; and, if not, why.

There is no such arrangement in existence at present and so far as I am aware there has been no demand for one.

Is the Minister aware, nevertheless, that a considerable number of Irish nationals working in India are complaining bitterly that such an agreement is not in existence and will he look into it?

I certainly will. It is astonishing to me if they complain bitterly to somebody other than me and I have not had any such complaints.

The Minister has not been in India recently.

I see it all now.

I advise him to take the trip. He would enjoy it.
