asked the Minister for Lands if he will give particulars of all farms held by the Land Commission in County Meath; and why certain of these farms have been held by the Land Commission for two years or more.
Ceisteann—Questions. Oral Answers. - Meath Lands.
Details of properties awaiting distribution in County Meath are contained in a tabular statement which, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, will be circulated with the Official Report. In the case of those estates which are on hands of the Land Commission for two years or more, disposal has to await selection of allottees, completion of negotiations on exchanges and execution of essential improvement works including erection of dwellinghouses, rehabilitation, etc. I understand, however, that a substantial part of the lands comprised in these estates, will be allotted in the coming spring.
Following is the statement:
County: Meath
Particulars of Estates—(apart from turbary, insignificant residues of partly allotted properties and lands transferred in exchange) in the possession of the Land Commission for division.

*Already partly allotted.
Does the Minister agree that there appear to have been great delays in some cases in allocating farms which were acquired by the Land Commission for this purpose many years ago?
There are 5,700 acres involved in this. If I could get the 700 acres, I would resign next week— would the Deputy not?
Is the Minister making an offer?
I should say that about 2,000 acres will be allocated by next spring.
The Minister is probably not aware of the fact that one farm has been in the possession of the Land Commission for a number of years and the excuse was that they were waiting to get a further portion. It has been sold long since and the wild boys who were burning farms thought it still belonged to a non-national and burned the house. If it had been divided when it should have been divided this would not have happened and the ratepayers of Meath would have been saved a lot of money.
I was not aware of that and the fact that the Deputy has raised it may be a help.
