Vol. 242 No. 9

Ceisteann—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Lands.

56.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission intend to divide and reallocate the lands they hold in the Lispole area of County Kerry this year.

Lands awaiting distribution in the Lispole area of County Kerry comprise three holdings, aggregating 125 acres, which were surrendered to the Land Commission by way of exchange. It is hoped to divide one of these holdings, containing 21 acres, in the coming spring. Composite resale proposals have been drafted for the other two properties—104 acres— together with another holding of 15 acres which the Land Commission are purchasing in the locality. It is proposed to utilise the combined area of 119 acres in a scheme to facilitate the enlargement and rearrangement of a number of fragmented holdings. The small property of 15 acres being purchased is an integral part of this scheme—and until such time as the Land Commission secure possession it is not feasible to indicate when the envisaged rearrangement and restructuring can be effected.
