Vol. 242 No. 9

Ceisteann—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kilkelly (Mayo) Vocational School.

68.

asked the Minister for Education why classes have been discontinued in Kilkelly vocational school, County Mayo, equipment removed and a new building left empty when there is a growing need for the facilities it should offer.

This is a one-room school which was erected for the purpose of holding evening classes. Such a class in homecraft is being held in the school this year. I understand from the County Mayo Vocational Education Committee, however, that it was necessary to discontinue the class in woodwork and building construction because the whole-time services of the teacher were required elsewhere in the county. The position will be reviewed at the end of the year in order to see whether the class in question can be resumed.
