The present strength of the Irish contingent serving with the United Nations Force in Cyprus is 416 all ranks. There are 20 Irish officers serving with the United Nations Truce Supervision Organisation in the Middle East.
The cost of normal pay and allowances of such personnel is borne by the State. Extra and extraordinary expenditure incurred by the State on the provision of an Irish contingent for service in Cyprus is recoverable from the United Nations. Any similar expenditure incurred by the State on the provision of officers for the United Nations Truce Supervision Organisation must be borne by the State.
