The need for retaining certain military barracks, posts and appurtenant lands was recently examined. As a result, it was decided that Rockgrove Military Camp, Little Island, County Cork, and about 83 acres of land adjoining Fort Davis, Whitegate, County Cork, could be sold. Tenders have been invited for the purchase of these properties by means of press advertisement, posters circulating locally and communication with likely interested parties.
A decision has not yet been reached on the possibility of disposing of the State's interest in certain other military properties.
