Vol. 243 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Oil Pollution.

38.

asked the Minister for External Affairs whether Ireland is represented at the Brussels Conference held by the Inter-Governmental Maritime Consultative Organisation in connection with oil pollution of coastlines following accidents at sea; if so, by whom; and what action will be taken by this State on the conclusion of the Conference.

Ireland was represented at the conference to which the Deputy refers by a member of the Attorney-General's staff and an officer of Irish Shipping Ltd. The conference adopted two conventions which will remain open for signature until the end of December, 1970. The question of their signature by Ireland is under active consideration.
