Vol. 243 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Estate Duty Office.

45.

asked the Minister for Finance why the estate duty office has twice in recent times been unable to supply C3 residuary accounts forms; and when steps will be taken to avoid similar situations in future.

There was an entirely unprecedented demand from solicitors for these forms in the current year with the result that stocks, which would normally have been adequate, became depleted. Further supplies were ordered in good time but they have not yet been delivered owing to printing delays. They will be delivered this week. Pending delivery a stencil version of the form is available at the estate duty branch.

Every effort is being made to eliminate the printing delays which give rise to situations of this kind.

46.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that notwithstanding their promise to issue general query forms Q2 in duplicate the estate duty office are not doing so; and if he will have the omission rectified.

The staff of the estate duty branch were instructed some years ago to issue queries in duplicate; and the instruction has since been repeated on a number of occasions. If in any case query forms are not so received, the matter should be notified forthwith to the head of the branch so that it may be investigated.
