Vol. 243 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Air Services Subsidisation.

57.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if his attention has been drawn to the recent British Government's White Paper on civil aviation and to the statement by the President of the Board of Trade in the British Parliament that his Government accepted that it should subsidise certain regional air services; if he is aware whether any of those subsidised services are in competition directly on indirectly with services provided by Aer Lingus; whether any representations have been made to the British Government; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

58.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if steps are being taken to ensure that the proposed closer co-operation between BOAC and BEA as endorsed by the British Government will not have a damaging affect upon Irish air services; whether negotiations will take place with the British Government; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

With your permission a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 57 and 58 together. The matters referred to by the Deputy are the domestic concern of the British authorities and should not affect the interests of Irish airlines.
