The Forestry Division has been paying increased prices for land for some time back. Under the new system of land valuation, prices are based on the potential timber yield of land and on the level of capital development cost likely to be involved.
The figure of £3 per acre quoted by the Deputy has no basis in relation to the average price being paid for forestry land.
