Vol. 243 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Agricultural Wages.

33.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he is aware that the wage of agricultural workers in County Dublin is only £12 10s per week; and that this sum is completely inadequate; and what action he proposes to take to increase this wage.

It is a function of the Agricultural Wages Board to fix minimum agriculture wage rates and I understand that the board keep the position under constant review.

Does the Minister agree that the rate referred to in Deputy Foley's question is the minimum agricultural rate for County Dublin and not the rate?

That is what I was emphasising in my reply.
