Vol. 243 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kilkenny Houses.

45.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will now sanction the proposals sent to his Department by Kilkenny County Council for the provision of housing schemes at (a) Bennettsbridge, (b) Callan, (c) Mullinavat and (d) Thomastown.

Plans for Mullinavat housing schemes have been fully approved by me. Proposals for the acceptance of tenders, or for direct labour operations, for the other schemes are under consideration in my Department and a decision on them will be given as soon as possible.

Could the Minister say when a decision will be made in view of the fact that the Thomastown proposals are with him since August?

As soon as possible.

How soon will that be? Is the Minister aware of the urgency?

It cannot be any sooner than as soon as possible.

Could the Minister define "as soon as possible"?

As soon as possible.

(Cavan): As soon as there is any money available.
