Vol. 243 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Housing Priorities.

47.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will arrange that Dublin Corporation make copies of their priorities scheme lettings of their houses available for public inspection in municipal libraries and other suitable premises.

Under section 60 of the Housing Act, 1966, housing authorities are required to have a copy of the letting priority scheme available in their offices for inspection during office hours. A copy of the Dublin Corporation scheme is on display in the corporation's housing department, Jervis Street, together with a short summary of the scheme. In addition, copies of the scheme are available at all their public libraries.

Will the Minister state has this just been made available because I phoned every library in the city and none had heard of this document?

It is Dublin Corporation did this.

The Minister is responsible for Dublin Corporation. I am asking him now has this information just been made available in the last two weeks. For the last year it has not been available in any library.

I am not responsible for Dublin Corporation.

The Minister is responsible.

Would the Minister make the "Guide to Social Services" available?

For goodness sake, everybody can get that for the asking. If Deputy Dowling does not know where to get the booklet I will give him half a dozen copies.

Deputy Dowling has got it and at six o'clock tomorrow he will be explaining what is in it for the information of any Deputies who will be sufficiently interested in social welfare to be here.

Will he be explaining it?

Yes. I have no doubt that the reason why Deputy Dowling asked about this publication is because of the ignorance Deputies opposite displayed in regard to social services here last week.
