Vol. 243 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

14.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that sanction was sought by Roscommon County Council in January, 1966, for the extension of the Knockcroghery water supply to serve Lissaniskey and Farbreagues; and when sanction will be given.

I am aware that design drawings for this scheme were submitted to my Department in January, 1966, for approval. In view of the necessity to conserve available capital for housing and other essential services, only those sanctary services schemes of the highest priority can be allowed to proceed at present. In the circumstances, a decision on this proposed extension must be deferred until other sanitary services works in Roscommon, regarded by the county council as more urgent, have been released.

15.

asked the Minister for Local Government when he proposes to sanction the Rectory Road sewerage scheme, Enniscorthy, County Wexford.

A proposal to accept a tender for this scheme is under examination in my Department and I will convey a decision thereon as soon as possible.
