asked the Minister for Justice if he will state the current daily timetable of a prisoner's routine in Mountjoy Prison.

Following is the statement:

Cells unlocked (prisoners on daily working release, helping the trades staff or proceeding to courts, etc., are unlocked earlier).

Work commences (in winter prisoners exercise for one hour before work as there is not sufficient light for outdoor exercise in the evenings).

School for the educationally backward.

Exercise and recreation (indoor or outdoor depending on weather or light available).

Cells locked (some corrective trainees are not locked up until 9.30, and those in the prison hostel are not locked up until shortly before 10 p.m.).

There is Mass or Rosary at 5.45 on alternate evenings. The prison branch of Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 6 o'clock on Thursdays. A lay catechist conducts classes at 9 o'clock each evening and a number of deacons give catechetical instruction on Friday evenings. There is also choir practice from 2 to 3 p.m. on Mondays and Fridays.
