Vol. 243 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions, Oral Answers. - Dublin County Council Housing.

18.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has received the information sought by him from Dublin County Council relative to housing finance; whether the necessary money will be provided through the Local Loans Fund to finance loan applications received up to 1st September, 1969; and what the prospects are for the remainder of the year.

I understand that the negotiations being carried out by the housing authority are not yet finalised. However, on the basis of a statistical return received in my Department on the 18th November, 1969, I reapportioned the capital allocations to Dublin city and county for house purchase loans and supplementary housing grants so as to increase the amount available to the county council in the current financial year by £100,000 to £1,100,000. This revised allocation, together with certain credit balances on their capital accounts, should enable the county council to make total payments of up to about £1,565,000 in the current financial year, compared with £1,008,000 last year and to issue loans, in the normal way, in respect of applications received by them up to the 1st September, 1969. Applications received after that date would normally fall due for payment in 1970-71. The capital allocation for that year is at present under consideration.
