While the stage has not been reached where comprehensive proposals for changes in the system of local finance and taxation can be announced effect is being given to a number of the recommendations made by the interdepartmental committee in the provisions of the Local Government (Rates) (No. 2) Bill, 1969, and in the proposed changes announced last December in relation to rate remissions on new and reconstructed buildings.
