Vol. 244 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Administration of Differential Rent Scheme.

33.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of staff directly employed on the administration of the B scale differential rent.

This information is not available in my Department.

In view of interruptions by Deputy Crowley I could not hear the Minister's reply. Will the Minister repeat it please?

I have given the answer but Deputy Murphy would not let Deputy Cluskey hear it.

I am asking the Ceann Comhairle, in view of the interruptions by Deputy Crowley, would it be possible for the Minister to repeat the reply?

It is a matter for the Minister whether he wishes to give the reply again or not.

I do not.

Surely if there was order I would have been in a position to hear the reply.

The Deputy did not hear the reply. He has a right to hear the reply.

The Chair was endeavouring to keep order but nobody was paying attention. I cannot see how the Chair can take the blame at this stage.

I agree with the Ceann Comhairle. It was not my fault if the Chair was not successful. I asked a question and because of interruptions by Deputies who were not involved in the matter I could not hear the answer.

It was Deputy Murphy who was interrupting.

I could not hear because of the interruptions.

There is nothing the Chair can do about it. If the Minister does not wish to give the reply again there is nothing I can do.

Surely the Chair could request the Minister to read it again?

The Minister is refusing to read it again.
