Vol. 244 No. 7

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Planning Appeals.

27.

asked the Minister for Local Government the total number of planning appeals for the year 1969 received by his Department under the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1963; and the total number of appeals which were successful in whole or part.

The total number of valid planning appeals received by me in the year ended 31st December, 1969 was 2,174. 318 appeals were subsequently withdrawn by the appellants. Of the 1,163 appeals decided in the year, the decision of the planning authority was reversed in 392 cases, was confirmed in 661 cases and was varied by the imposition of conditions in 110 cases. The appeals decided in the year are not of course necessarily those received within the year.
