Vol. 244 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Health Authority Employees.

17.

asked the Minister for Health the reasons for the delay in payment of the remaining part of the eleventh round pay increase by Dublin Health Authority to its employees.

My sanction was conveyed last October to payment of the final phase of the eleventh round increase with effect from 1st June, 1969, to officers in the service of local health authorities, including Dublin. It is a matter for individual health authorities to give effect to this sanction.

Sanction has been conveyed also to proposals from the Dublin Health Authority for the payment in three stages of eleventh round increases to non-nursing personnel.

Is it intended to stipulate that the acceptance of this eleventh round increase would in any way prejudice the negotiations going on in relation to the arbitration referred to in the last question?

I am afraid I could not say that. As far as I know, this eleventh round was related to particular increases of wages. There always can be arbitration for people who claim they should have an increase of salary based on particular grades. I do not think the two are connected. As far as I know, they are not connected.

As far as the Minister knows there is no stipulation that the acceptance of the eleventh round increase will prejudice the conciliation and arbitration claim?

I do not think it affects it.
