Vol. 244 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - East Clare Garda Strength.

32.

asked the Minister for Justice if, in order to allay the fears of the people of East Clare as a result of the many night robberies and burglaries in the post offices and other houses in practically all the villages there, he will consider increasing the garda force in the area to try to apprehend the robbers.

As indicated in my replies to recent Parliamentary Questions I am having a general review of the distribution of the force carried out with a view to allocating garda manpower to where the needs are greatest. The commissioner is having the position in East Clare specially examined.

Would the Minister say if the assertion in the question is correct, that there have been robberies in practically all the villages in Clare?

There is a problem there, not, from my information, created by the people of Clare but created by visitors from Limerick City, which is under observation.

I missed that.
