Vol. 244 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Income Tax Acts.

53.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that loose-leaf volumes of the Income Tax Acts and the law of stamp duties are being sold without the most up-to-date supplements or revisions or without having the pages of such supplements or revisions inserted in the appropriate places; and that because of this practice much confusion and inconvenience is being caused; and if he will have steps taken to have the pages of supplements and revisions properly placed and cancelled pages removed before the sale of the volumes.

Loose-leaf volumes of the Income Tax Acts and the law of stamp duties are sold separately but it is the practice of the Government Publications Sales Office to advise persons purchasing the loose-leaf volumes that the supplements and revisions are also available. This arrangement is in the interests of persons concerned with the income tax and stamp duty codes so as to enable them to determine not only the law currently in force but also the law in force in previous years. This desirable objective is considered to be best achieved by the existing practice.
