Vol. 244 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Airport Rail Link.

62.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he is aware that Dublin Airport is one of the few airports situated near a capital city in Europe which does not have a rail communication with the city centre; and if he will consider the possibility of the provision of such a railway connection in view of the increase in air traffic to that airport and the increase in road traffic which is taking place on the north side of the city for the past few years.

As regards the first part of the question my information is that only six airports in Europe situated near a major city have direct rail links with the city centre.

As regards the second part of the question, I would refer the Deputy to my reply to a similar question on 23rd October, 1969.
