Vol. 245 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - St. Kevin's Hospital (Dublin) Telephone Service.

16.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the present position regarding the application of Dublin Health Authority for an adequate telephone service to St. Kevin's Hospital, Dublin.

The Dublin Health Authority applied in recent months for additions and alterations to the installation serving St. Kevin's Hospital and for better maintenance arrangements. Work on the additions and alterations has been completed with the exception of three external extensions and these are in hands. Arrangements exist to ensure that faults reported receive priority treatment and I am satisfied that the installation receives special maintenance attention. An examination of the extensive installations serving the hospital is being arranged, however, in order to see whether improvements of the service could be effected by modifications to the existing manual private exchange pending provision of a centralised automatic branch exchange by the Dublin Health Authority at St. Kevin's Hospital.
