Under section 8 of the Transport Act, 1958, CIE are free to fix such charges as the board think fit for any service provided by the board.
I have received notification from CIE of the board's intention to increase rates and fares. The reasons for the proposed increases are increased costs, mainly labour costs. The matter is at present under consideration.
