Vol. 247 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Meath Employment Exchange.

19.

asked the Minister for Labour if he will investigate the feasibility of providing an employment exchange at Dunboyne, County Meath in the light of the rapid increase in the working population in the area.

I am satisfied that the services provided in this area are adequate for present needs and that the provision of an employment office at Dunboyne would not be justified.

Is the Minister aware that there is no public transport at all between Dunboyne and Maynooth, to which latter place Dunboyne people have to go at the moment to attend the employment exchange?

Those who are over six miles away can avail themselves of the postal service.

There is a large number of people in Dunboyne who are over six miles away.

That is the point we have been looking into and there are only 31 from Dunboyne on the unemployed register. This would hardly justify——

This could fluctuate. It might be 31 at the moment.
