No proposals are before my Department for this extension which is one for consideration by the local authority in the first instance.
Is the Minister aware that the western committee of the Cork County Council sent a unanimous request to the Department of Local Government to sanction this scheme for the provision of water to the village of Shannonvale, which is only a quarter of a mile from the head works of the Clonakilty regional scheme, and that should have been in the Department for the past two or three months?
I can only repeat my reply. If the Deputy does not believe the reply I am giving him then I regret that I cannot be of any further assistance to him. Perhaps he would check on it locally and come back to me. There is no such proposal before the Department.

asked the Minister for Local Government why householders at Dunsfort, Midleton, County Cork, who have contributed to the Churchtown group water scheme have not been provided with a supply when an extension of only 200 yards is involved.
Work on the Whitegate extension group water supply scheme, which extends over six miles, is in progress. The houses at Dunsfort are at the end of the scheme, as designed, and main laying for these houses cannot be commenced until the house connections in the earlier stages of the scheme have been completed. These connections are being made and the piping for the 400 yard link to Dunsfort is on the site.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position relating to the group water scheme at Coole Cranford, County Donegal.
My Department has no proposal for a group water supply scheme in the Coole/Cranford area. Applications have, however, been received from three individuals in the area for grants for private water installations in their houses. These were recently investigated by my Department's inspector who has reported that work is in progress in each case and should be completed this summer.

asked the Minister for Local Government why an inspector from his Department has not called a meeting of the participants of Rathcoole group water scheme, County Cork; and if he will make arrangements for such a meeting.
My Department's inspectors have been in touch with the promoters of these two small group schemes at Knockcahill and Curraraigue, Rathcoole. Meetings with each group have been arranged for the coming week.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the Ballyahive group water scheme at Abbeydorney, County Kerry.
The design for this scheme has been approved and the group are seeking quotations for the necessary materials for the work. A proposal by Kerry County Council to contribute towards the cost of increased pipe sizes for the scheme has also been approved and my Department has informed the council that subsidy will be paid in respect of their contribution.
