asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state, in expansion of a reply of 4th June, 1970, the provision of the Housing Act, 1966, or appropriate regulations under which he considers that the site subsidy is not payable by a local authority as the buildings erected or to be erected on those sites are financed by way of the ordinary building grants for new dwellings under Chapter 3 (Part 2) of the Act together with local authority loans advanced under section 39.

I am advised that section 44 (1) (b) of the Housing Act, 1966, enables me to pay subsidy to housing authorities for "the provision of sites for building purposes" and that it does not extend to contracts entered into by housing authorities with builders for the provision of houses.
