Vol. 248 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Motor Taxation Office.

49.

asked the Minister for Local Government if, in view of the very large car owning population in the south side of Dublin city and county and Dún Laoghaire, Dublin Corporation will open a second motor taxation office on the south side of Dublin with adequate public car park facilities and adequate provision for staff.

The question of opening a second motor taxation office would be one for consideration by the licensing authority in the first instance.

In view of the very large number of car owners on the south side of Dublin, many hundreds of whom have to go each week to the north side of the city to register their cars, I am sure all public representatives would support the opening of a motor taxation office on the south side of Dublin City.

The Dún Laoghaire Urban Council is not a licensing authority. I think legislation would be required. However, I would have some sympathy with the Deputy's suggestion and will keep an eye on it.
