I informed the House on 12th February that agreement in principle had been reached regarding the creation of a Chair of Psychiatry at University College, Galway. It is intended that the person appointed professor of psychiatry will also act as clinical director in charge of a new professorial psychiatric unit which is being provided by the health authority at the Regional Hospital, Galway. Draft qualifications, duties and particulars of office for the post of clinical director under the health authority are at present being examined by my Department.
May I ask the Minister when he received these recommendations concerning the terms of appointment in his Department?
