Vol. 248 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Fish Mortality.

34.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he is aware that all fish life on the River Martin near Grenagh, County Cork, is extinct; and if he will have the matter investigated immediately.

I am aware that an extensive fish kill took place recently in the River Martin near Rathduff.

Investigations into the cause of the fish mortality were initiated immediately after the occurrence by the Cork Board of Conservators which is responsible by statute for the protection of fish bearing waters in the district. My Department is supplying advice as required.
