The consultants' report in question was commissioned by Bord na Móna in agreement with my Department and the Department of Finance. It is a voluminous report dealing in considerable detail with the internal operations of the board and is not suitable or intended for general publication. The findings in the report are being examined by the board and the two Departments but it is not possible to say at this stage what action may be called for or taken.
If the future of Bord na Móna is not all that bright it may be necessary to make alternative arrangements for employment and would the Minister not consider publishing at least a summary of the report as a basis for future planning in these areas?
It is very technical, but when we have the report examined, whatever conclusions we come to will be published for public examination and consideration.
