asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the dates on which the Cú Mara and the Cú Feasa were purchased; the cost of purchase; the total cost of repairs and maintenance since purchase; and the total amount of time in dock for such repairs.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate it in the Official Report.
Following is the statement:—
Exploratory Fishing Vessels.
Cú Feasa |
Cú Mara |
|
Date of Purchase |
March, 1960 |
June, 1966 |
Cost of Purchase |
£60,069 |
£46,400 |
Total cost of repairs and maintenance up to 31st March 1970 |
£38,202 |
£11,691 |
It would entail a considerable amount of time, and involve the diversion of staff from normal duties, to extract from the weekly records of each of the two vessels for a period of 14 years in the aggregate details of the time spent in dock for repairs. It is considered that the time spent and the cost of compiling these statistics would not be justified.
