Vol. 250 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price Inspectors.

163.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the number of price inspectors at present attached to his Department; if he proposes to increase this number; if so, by how much; when; and if he will indicate the exact duties of these inspectors.

There are at present five authorised officers in my Department engaged on prices work and arrangements are being made to increase this number to meet any needs that may arise in future. These officers' duties include the investigation of individual price complaints, the survey of prices at the retail level and such other inspection work as may become necessary from time to time to enable me to discharge my functions under the Prices Acts.
