The Free Trade Area Agreement provides that in the year commencing 1st July, 1970, a review may be carried out by the Irish Government to determine which industries have encountered or are threatened with difficulties as a result of the operation of the agreement. This review is being conducted in my Department and discussions with the British Government will follow, as provided for in the agreement. Until this procedure is completed I think it would not be desirable to indicate which industries, if any, may be found to be in difficulties or threatened and what protection may be required for them.
