Vol. 250 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Official Christmas Cards.

247.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state the cost of officially provided Christmas cards and greetings sent by him in 1969; if the postage was provided free by his Department; if so, the cost in each case; if he will give an estimate of the cost of cards on order for this year; and if the cards will be sent free.

The cost of the cards was £52 7s 0d in 1969. The items were franked "Official Paid" in accordance with long established practice. The value of the postage involved was approximately £87.

The estimated cost of the cards ordered for this year is £55 and the same postal arrangements will apply as in previous years.

248.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of Christmas cards provided in 1967, 1968, 1969 and 1970; and the total cost for each year.

249.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if in estimating the cost of Christmas cards and greetings he includes (a) envelopes and (b) estimated Civil Service time.

With the permission of the Ceann Chomhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 248 and 249 together and as the reply is in the form of a tabular statement it is proposed to have it included in the Official Report.
