16.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of the bad state of repair of and inadequate facilities existing in the Model Schools, Sarsfield Road, Inchicore, Dublin; and, if so, what measures are being taken to provide the children of that area with a proper school.

17.

asked the Minister for Education the number of children at present attending the Model Schools, Sarsfield Road, Inchicore, Dublin.

18.

asked the Minister for Education the number of teachers at present employed in the Model Schools, Sarsfield Road, Inchicore, Dublin.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 16, 17 and 18 together.

There was an average enrolment of 149 pupils in Inchicore boys' school and an average enrolment of 129 in the girls' school for the quarter ended 31st March, 1971.

There are five teachers in the boys' school and four in the girls' school.

As regards the school premises the question of the renovation of the existing buildings or the construction of new schools is under consideration at present. The provision which might be made is complicated by the fact that many of the children now attending the schools come from outside areas and that numbers are gradually diminishing according as new schools are being built in these other areas. Therefore, it was found necessary to undertake a special survey of the pupil potential. This has been put in train.
