asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state in respect of the years 1970 and 1971 for Tipperary South Riding County Council, Clonmel Corporation and Cashel, Tipperary and Carrick-on-Suir Urban Councils (a) the total number of houses provided, (b) the number of dwellings vested, sold or leased by instalment and (c) the number of dwellings let.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to have it circulated with the Official Report.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state in respect of the years 1969-70 and 1970-71 what money was made available for housing to Tipperary South Riding County Council, Clonmel Corporation and Cashel, Tipperary and Carrick-on-Suir Urban Councils; and the provisional allocation to those bodies for the year 1971-72.

NOTES:

(1) The figures consist of—

(a) amounts issued from the Local Loans Fund to the authorities for the provision of local authority housing, the making of housing loans and supplementary grants and,

(b) contributions by the State towards the loan charges incurred by local authorities in the provision of local authority housing.

(2) The total amount to be allocated to the authorities in 1971-72 has not been finally determined.

(3) Responsibility for the administration and payment of housing loans and supplementary housing grants in the Carrick-on-Suir, Cashel and Tipperary urban district areas was transferred to Tipperary (S.R.) County Council with effect from 1st April, 1970.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present estimated housing requirements of Tipperary South Riding County Council, Clonmel Corporation and Cashel and Carrick-on-Suir Urban Councils.

The most recent statutory assessment of housing needs was carried out by housing authorities generally in 1967. The next general assessment is not due to be carried out until 1972. I am not in a position therefore to give up-to-date estimates of overall housing requirements. I propose, however, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate with the Official Report, a statement setting out recent estimates given by these councils of the present need for local authority houses in their areas.
