Vol. 256 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers (Resumed). - County Kerry Houses.

223.

asked the Minister for Local Government, if in view of the increase in population in the county, he will increase the allocation of money for local authority housing to Kerry County Council to enable them to erect at least 300 houses per year in addition to urban housing demands as the present allocation is inadequate.

">

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to his Questions Nos. 108 and 109 of August last in which I indicated the basis of allocation of the capital for local authority housing to Kerry County Council for 1971-72. The assessment of housing needs and the adoption of a building programme are matters for the housing authority under the Housing Act, 1966. I will consider any proposals they may make for an increase in their present level of construction.
